About Our Church

Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ was formed in 1975 by a merger between St. Paul's UCC  and St. John's UCC, two sister congregations in Lancaster, PA.  The two churches purchased an 84-acre farm from the Brubaker family and from this vision, the Church of the Apostles emerged, giving birth to Homestead Village and a campus filled with partners such as the Parish Resource Center, the Schreiber Center, and the American Cancer Society.

Who are We?

We welcome you to join us on Sunday mornings for inspiring worship and Christian education classes for all ages.  We offer both a blended worship service (at 9:15 A.M.) and a traditional worship service (at 10:45 A.M.).  During the worship services we hold Christian educational classes for both adults and children.  Nursery care is also available throughout Sunday mornings.  Communion is offered weekly at an 8:00 am service held in our Parlor.

Fellowship, music, education, service and worship opportunities abound throughout the week.  Through our ministries we actively seek to share God's love with all people.  We have a Senior Pastor, an Associate Pastors and six commissions who lead our church and our ministries.

Church of the Apostles stands in the Reformed theological tradition and is a congregation of the United Church of Christ.  Located just west of Lancaster city on Marietta Avenue, Church of the Apostles is noted for its round Sanctuary and its beautiful 84-acre campus.  You are warmly invited to worship and to serve the Lord with us.

The mission of this church is to bear witness to the love of God in Jesus Christ.  This shall be done through:
  • Preaching and teaching the word of God to lead persons in their journeys of faith

  • Fostering life together within the community of faith

  • Reaching out in faithful service to persons and groups in need

  • Using our resources as faithful stewards

  • Maintaining and developing our total church assets in order to serve God

  • Celebrating God's presence and promises to all who labor and trust in God's eternal realm of justice and peace
